Paleolithics is a side scrolling game that puts you in control of a family of prehistoric cavemen. Your family consists of 3 tribe members, each with their own unique skill which helps you in your adventure to discover what's terrorising your tribes village.

Each of he games levels scrolls automatically, your job is controlling each tribes skill to defend against enemies. The controls are simple, with only three to contend with (whack, jump and throw). This may put some gamers off but I found it quite refreshing, keeping thinking to a minimum enabling you to enjoy each level.

The early levels are pretty simple and gradually introduce you to the basic, but addictive gameplay. Each level rewards you with materials which you can spend on upgrades in the towns shop. You'll need all the materials you can find because the later levels get much tougher and you start encountering bosses who can be quite difficult to defeat with the default weapons.

If you're after something fun and easy to get into you should definitely give Paleolithics a look. It may be slightly primitive control wise, but it's excellent fun that everyone can pick up and play.

Levels can be replayed to pick up more materials but be warned, on each play through they do become more difficult. Different levels reward different materials and the app also uses your devices time of day to decide what materials it's going to hand out. An Elder tribesman provides helpful tips for spending materials and general gameplay.

Included in the game is the ability to purchase materials through in app upgrades, useful if you can't be bothered replaying levels.

I have to say, I've become pretty addicted to this game over the last few weeks. It's one of those games that's easy to pick up but damn hard to put down. I found myself going back to replay levels in order to upgrade and purchase new items.

I finally completed the game a few days ago and didn't have to purchase any in app upgrades. It's refreshing to find a game that doesn't require in app purchases just to be able to complete it. I must admit though, I had roped my girlfriend into helping me beat the final few levels. It's not down as a 2 player game but come on, a little help from your other half isn't really cheating?!

If you're after something fun and easy to get into you should definitely give Paleolithics a look. It may be slightly primitive control wise, but it's excellent fun that everyone can pick up and play.
